Mind-Body Psychotherapy: A whole person approach to emotional, psychological and relational support
Mind-Body Psychotherapy is a unique integrative approach to therapy, in that it brings the mind and body into the therapeutic process. Rather than treating the mind and body as separate entities, this approach recognises that our thoughts, emotions and physical sensations are deeply interconnected.
Why the Body Matters in Therapy
Traditional talk therapy focuses primarily on thoughts and verbal expression. While this is enormously valuable, it can sometimes miss the ways in which our bodies hold and express our emotional experiences. Tension in the shoulders, a tight chest, a churning stomach — these physical sensations are not separate from our emotional lives; they are part of them.
Mind-Body Psychotherapy invites clients to notice and explore these bodily experiences alongside their thoughts and feelings, creating a richer, more complete picture of what is happening for them.
An Integrative Approach
Ann's approach draws on a range of therapeutic modalities — including psychodynamic therapy, CBT, somatic awareness, and mindfulness — tailored to each individual client. This means that sessions are not one-size-fits-all; they are shaped by what each person brings and what they need.
Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, or simply a sense that something isn't quite right, Mind-Body Psychotherapy offers a compassionate, holistic space to explore and heal.
What to Expect
Sessions typically last 50 minutes and take place weekly. Ann works with both individuals and couples, online and in person. The therapeutic relationship itself — the safe, non-judgmental space between therapist and client — is considered central to the healing process.
